Throughout the past 18 months there has been much discussion about Mental Health issues arising from the Covid virus pandemic, however there has been little discussion from the media about how to fix it .

Readers may not be aware that October was "National Mental Health Month " and that Rotary in Australia conducts  a " Lift the Lid on mental health " day
as an awareness and  fundraiser.

But did you know that Rotary has been addressing this infliction for nearly 40 years through its Australian Rotary Health organisation, supported by Rotary Districts and Clubs throughout Australia.

Let me tell you about the Australian Rotary Health organisation and its work   and the LIFT THE LID Program.
Australian Rotary Health    Australian Rotary Health (ARH)

To quote from its website ( https://australianrotaryhealth.org.au), " Australian Rotary Health is one of the largest independent funders of mental health research within Australia.

We also provide funding into a broad range of general health areas, provide scholarships for rural medical and nursing students, as well as Indigenous health students.

Australian Rotary Health provides funding into areas of health that do not readily attract funding, and promotes findings to the community.

Australian Rotary Health is a project of the Rotary Districts of Australia and is supported by Rotary Clubs.  We have a broad vision to improve the health and wellbeing of all Australians.

Australian Rotary Health prioritises high quality research projects which directly benefit the community. Our mission is to support healthier minds, bodies and communities through research, awareness and education

Rotary Health is not only committed to providing funding and research into mental health issues, we also provide funding into a broad range of general health areas, provide scholarships for rural medical and nursing students, as well as indigenous health students" . end quote

Now what about Engadine Rotary ? what has been our involvement ?

For many years, Engadine Rotary has supported and promoted ARH. When funds have been available after our fundraising activities they have been donated to ARH for its ongoing work. To date our club has donated some $34,000 which together with recent donations of $2430 following the last Lift the Lid day amounting to  $36,430. This is a great effort from a local Rotary club during these uncertain times and other charities wanting assistance.

Why do Rotarians  do this ? Its part of our DNA and in line with this years Rotary logo  that we
