On the 28th May last , the Rotary Club of Engadine in association with the School of Hospitality at the Loftus Campus of TAFE
celebrated 20 years of presenting awards to final year students who had completed courses conducted by the School of Hospitality.
The object of this Rotary program is to promote excellence in the Hospitality Industry through TAFE and since 1998, Engadine Rotary has presented awards to 83 students.
Initially the awards were based on work submitted by applying students detailing their employment history within the Industry, their leadership and development roles within and external to TAFE.
In addition, students must meet the following criteria :-
1.Have demonstrated a commitment to the Hospitality & Tourism Industry
2. Demonstrated an involvement in the industry and or their associations.
3. Is highly motivated and displays high leadership skills
4. Has a consistent academic record
In the 2010 Academic year and in its 13th year, the awards program was modified to include Environmental issues in keeping with changes in course curriculum occurring at that time.
From 2014, the award has been renamed the Hospitality Leadership and Development Award and open to students across all Hospitality Courses conducted by the Sutherland College of TAFE on the Loftus Campus.
Throughout these 20 years, Rotary has been greatly impressed by the high calibre, determination and the achievements of the graduating students from this school.
This in turn has been due in no small way to the teaching staff, past and present, who have instilled in the students, those qualities needed for the attainment excellence in the industry
